OK, so here´s one more thing to add to the list of printed stuff on the Truggy!
That’s awesome! I was waiting for someone to do this on a dual extruder! You printed this all as one piece, right?
Awesome results!
@Paulo_Kiefe Well, it´s not like something you buy in the store but i´d like to think it came out pretty close!
@Bryan_Costanich I only printed the tire this time. However, it´s designed for dual extrusion printing. But as i had problems printing it together with ABS and as time was running out i skipped dual extrusion for now and just printed the tire. So i will release files for dual extrusion for those who wants to do that and also a slightly modded version for those who want to print only the tire. It will fit as is on the OpenRC Truggy rim!
Oh, i designed the tire as a “solid” piece so it completely fills the space “inside” the tire for easier printing. That means there’s no room for foam. So to simulate foam I did 5% infill which turned out quite all right.
Dual extrusion will be interesting because it’ll allow an air-tight seal on a tubeless tire.
@Bryan_Costanich this one is also done for dual extrusion: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:37785
I didn’t have rubber like filament at the time though…
Awesome! Which filament is this?
@Liam_Jackson it’s printed in NinjaFlex.
You do not want to have an airtight tire. Softer tires give the best traction so when mounting rubber tires, you punch holes in the tire or drill holes in the rim.
Dual extrusion would allow the elastic part to be retained in the rim so you would not have to glue it.
4 tires done!
This is awesome… Great job!
im also looking into printing NinjaFlex. can you tell me your printsettings, nozzle temperature, extrusion speed and slicethickness?
is a closed housing ok, or is it better to be open so it can cool down quicker ?!
