Ok so i had made a post like last week with a power issue i was having on a WS2812B type 300 led strip. (the post was as removed for some reason and i never got any feedback as to why)

Anyway, i got some suggestions on Reddit and got 20/300 leds controlled by the arduino. Here is a video of the issue.

Any help would be greatly apprecitated.

Is this your post from last week? https://plus.google.com/u/0/114818457013981398487/posts/ALH9B1JCUnu

If so, it wasn’t removed, it just wasn’t shared with the FastLED community. It was shared publicly, so really only people who are following you (have you in their circles) would see it.

Regardless, I can’t watch your video, it says it’s private. The pictures on your post look fine. What code are you running?

hmm…im kinda new to posting to google+ communities and must have submitted incorrectly. I just checked my youtube settings and they are set to public…maybe i forgot to hit publish.

kinda busythis morning and wanted to get the ball rolling on this strip and code for the holidays.

No worries, welcome to the FastLED community!

OK, now, what code are you running on your Arduino? You note in the video description you’re using a FastLED example, but which one? Can you paste your code at https://gist.github.com or http://pastebin.com?

Also, that looks like a long strip. You probably need to connect power and ground to both ends. If you have a volt meter, measure the voltage at the end of the strip, it’s probably dropping considerably.

I’ve powered 5m easily from one end… never issues… they tend to just all fade if there’s not enough amps.

My bet is it is the code. Second to that the strip itself physically.

this code i am using is the pride code. https://gist.github.com/kriegsman/964de772d64c502760e5

i have a 5v 20 amp power supply. it should be enough power.

What about the code could be the issue? This is my first time using a WS2812B strip. I’ve been using a TM1803 strip from radioshack.

The picture from your other post doesn’t look like the data wire is connected to pin 3, as specified in the code you linked. I assume you’ve either changed it since that picture was taken (can’t see it in the video), or you’ve changed the code. Made any other changes?
