Ok so I have been having a great time with my DYI A8 from bestgear. The problem I am having is that it does not use the whole print bed (using cura). It is printing to the front left side leaving the back right side open. Does anyone know how to center the print and a set it to use the entire 220mm x 220mm x 220mm area?

In the version of Cura I am using you can set the print area under the Machine tab from Machine settings. You have an option to set the X, Y, and Z sizes for your particular machine.

@Jeff_Parish Thank you! I found it and it worked. Now the only problem left is to shift the pint area to the right on the bed. It is currently printing just a 1/4 of an inch off rhe plate on the left. Any ideas?

Could be a firmware issue. Where does your printer think XY home is? If you test the extents how for to the back right can you move it?

There is another option in Cura to define machine center as 0,0 which in theory will use the center of the area you defined. Try that and see what happens. If it tries to go further left and front then it looks like your home might be flipped in your firmware or your belts are connected on the wrong side or the motors are going the wrong direction.

Not sure if this will work but try putting a minus in front of the X bed distance. Might mirror your prints but that will tell us where the printer thinks XY home is.

I will try that. Thank you

There was a flash thumbdrive in my kit with software and operating manual. It had a lot of settings for cura as well as settings file you can import in cura.

Ok I will check to see. There is one file in Chinese and one in english. Just load profile or install custom firmware?

Load the cura profile and see what changes. If that does not change anything and there is an option to load firmware on the printer I think I’d try that.

Thank you

Here is the instructions file I found on my flash drive inside folder named with chinese characters: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B8b6GsDnUyViUFYzeEY5akhXTXc

So this is how I fixed it! I used the profile that came on the flash drive. Then on the machine itself, I set the X start to -30, BAM! Centered!

Thnk you all for the help
