Okay I have my Ramps 1.4 flashed with pre-configured prusa build.

Okay I have my Ramps 1.4 flashed with pre-configured prusa build. It’s connected to Pronterface at the moment and I’ve got my stepper motors dialed in and moving to precise positions. Only thing keeping me from test printing is when I set heat to the hotend nothing happens. Pronterface sets the target temp and the thermistor reads no heat exchange. Tried reversing wires. Yes I’m connected correctly to the board. Also pronterface is the Only host I can get connected too. Can’t connect to octoprint, MatterControl, or repetier and I’d like to use any of those over pronterface. Any ideas?

This is just a shot in the dark, but I believe that Ramps 1.4 may have separate 12V power inputs between stepper drivers and heating components. I’d check to make sure both 12V inputs are being fed with power. As for only being able to work with pronterface. I’d check my port number settings on the other apps to make sure they match what is working with pronterface. Baud rate is also important to match up. Hopefully something I said was helpful. Success to you!!

Will pick up a new voltmeter as my auto meter is shotty. As for ports they all have the same Com3 115 Baud setting so unsure there

Assuming you are running windows, I’d wonder if your preferred apps are being permitted to use the Com ports. I think I remember this being an option with NO as a default for window 7 and onward. Not sure though since I’m more of a Linux head now. Down the road you might consider getting a raspberry pi to drive your Ramps/Arduino system. There is even a disto called OctoPi that works nicely. Then you can run the machine headless and not tie up your computer. I also works with a camera. Thats what I do and its a sweet setup.

Is it reading 0c on the thermistor or around 20?

I’ve got 2 Raspi setups running octoprint currently neither will connect to it either. One runs Raspian with octoPrint server setup and the other runs the standalone octoPi build.

0c on the thermostor @Griffin_Paquette

@Joshua_Taylor then it’s most likely a bad thermistor or trace to the thermistor on the ramps. You should read around 20c when you are connected even when no heat is on. I would contact the company who sold you the printer and try to get a new thermistor to put in. But check to see if there is any resistance across it in the first place.

Just got my HotEnd and thermistor yesterday I actually hope it’s the Ramps Board over that cause I’ll switch to a completely different board most likely. I am using a power supply not common to most printers burnt supplies 19V 3.2A 110Wats so I don’t think that’s the issue.

Could be the board. I’ve seen it go both ways. More likely than not its the thermistor itself though. Not a big Ramps fan if im honest. Switched to a printrboard and don’t see going back. Maybe I’ll try a smoothie soon but just can’t justify the cost right now

I’ve been looking into the smoothie boards but havnt heard if the printrboard
