Old filament sucks.
Is it wet, or just old? How old?
Probably 8 months or so. It was REALLY bad, then I cooked it in the oven for 30 minutes or so and I got this far. Wonder if I cooked it for an hour if it’d improve even more?
Funny thing, for all my bitching about my growing pains with Makerbot PLA, it printed consistently for the whole spool. (Pictured above is JustPLA)
Probably need some more drying time. Keep the temperature low (200F?) and dry it for a while longer.
You just know this’ll be the modern equivalent of your inkjet cartridges drying out…
@Mike_Miller
That actually made me chuckle… a bit sadly.
Poor old Adalinda:-)
You can zip it in bag with some dry silica gel for few days, and than try again. I store my plastic in plastic box with dry silica gel, and from when I started doing it I didn’t have any problem at all.
PLA or ABS?
(Just finished my 2.5 year old roll of black PLA without issues)
PLA. I had problems before - for example if I spend two rainy days with window open my filament was unusable
I even once got unusable filament from store too. Although it shall work with ABS too.
