On December 17, 2017, the Toronto Transit Commission opened its new subway extension. When I went to ride it on opening day, they were handing out free subway maps which sparked the motivation to do a project I’ve been wanting to do forever… Light up the TTC!

The map is glued onto some foam core board. All of the subway stop circles were cut out and WS2812B LEDs placed on the backside.

Nice project, looks good. Would be cool to find a way to display some sort of real-time TTC data.

Back in the day, I’d used to get on the subway at the end of the line at the Islington station, and would be sleeping standing up by the time we’d reached the Old Mill. Would wake up around University and get off at Yonge St to get to Ryerson. Moved away in 1980.

Thanks for the reminder.

Really cool project!

Looks great. I have thought about doing this with a NYC Subway map. NYC Transit also supplies real time data. The problem for me right now is that asthma is keeping me from doing soldering.
