On the standard OX build is the standard two 20X60 1500mm extrusions sturdy enough to hold the Z axis with a Dewalt 611 router? I want sturdy and not sure if I should size down to 1000mm

Mine is 1500x1000. I think 1000 is as long as I’d go to support the Z. That said, I bolted my beams together every 6" or so to make it behave as a single piece. Maybe using a 1500 C-beam would be better.

I assume your Z is on the 1000mm extrusion?

@Gimp_Geek yes.

I agree I think 1000 is the the tops. I have though seen builds that bolt and 1/8" strip of steel between the extrusions, doing that I think you could go 1500

how do you bolt them together?

I am making a 1000mm X on my next machine in a few weeks. I went for 3x 2080 as it’ll be stronger then a C beam and really doesnt cost that much more then using 2060s

my Z is a C Beam 250mm kit and a dewalt 611

@Julius_Jahn I just drilled holes through the slots on both pieces and ran a bolt into a t-nut on the far side. You have to be sure the head and thread of the bolt doesn’t stick out too much. It could hit the carriage. I’ll get a photo tomorrow when it’s light out.
