One mighty terrible 3D Benchy almost done.
Things to correct:
- Z mounting needs to be more rigid
- use additional bearings (flanged?) to prevent belt from rubbing against bearing retainers (biggest cause of missed steps)
- switch to E3Dv6 lite hotend (just because I have a spare)
- add a layer cooling fan to the hotend
Oddly enough, even with the slight x/y rotational wobble on Z, there aren’t too many visible layer shifts in the final print.
So far, this experiment is working quite well.
