One of our own, @Alex_Nieto has started a build of the OpenSwift. Looking good Alex! I’ll post some build videos and iron out some of the issues you’ve identified in January :).

Starting to build openswift from @Andre_Roy .
It’s just the left wing, and right now I’m just going to try different systems for covering (I’m not a fan of covering with balsa, and I think we should try all the ways for covering we can), it’s going to take a while, I don’t expect printing and assembling the right wing until feb2015.
Just in case you (@Andre_Roy ) read this lines, the stl’s you provided are really wrong :frowning: , I mean, some parts are oddly rotated and others way out of scale. For example I had to cut ~30mm of the elevon to fit it in place. People who use slic3r as slicing tool need the stl’s properly rotated and scaled, if there is no inconvenience I’ll put them in place and scale and publish (or send them to you so there will only be one version).
Still an absolute impressive work and I really thank you for sharing (it looks sooooooooooooo cool).

@Andre_Roy I created a section on the wiki for the OpenSwift. Feel free to add content there if you would like.

Hey @Joshua_Updyke , I definitely will, I’m still trying to figure out how best to document it…

Perhaps I can start with a bill of materials… I’ll sign up :).

I went ahead and made some stub pages that I could quickly think of. My goal is to make a starting point and ask some questions that might help people think about what to add to the pages. I just toss up a few quick thoughts that I have when I first see the new projects.

Hey! it’s great to get some attention :D.
I just published a revised (and customizable) version of the spars, made with openscad. Right now is at: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:608764

I’ll upload them to github and pull request in the original.
