Cool project, but this project did a press release a few months back and created such a buzz, but that’s all it is. It’s a glorified MIG welder attached to a robot. They are relying on the open source community to work out the issues related to poor resolution, removal of part from plate, support structure… there’s a long way to go, and lots of patents to dodge. I wish them luck though

Is the reversed delta design any good? I wonder if you could put a build plate like this below a pellet extruder and hopper?

A moving X/Y platform is never good. And a reversed delta is EVEN WORSE; given that you’re moving the part/build plate in the X, Y, AND Z. It means having a terribly small build area, tall tower-like objects will separate themselves from the build plate, the mass you’re accelerating changes and accelerations have to be turned way down or accounted for over time, the added mass as the part is built will change the geometry of the delta unless you have the most stiff, crazy frame, and belts so tight you could play bass on them…
