Had a ball in Austin during #sxsw14 Interactive and Music with the 3D printed v2.0 #NOTGLASS modular headset. Tons of interesting conversations about wearable tech.

This is how Microsoft’s glasses will look.

@Ulf_Karlsson LOL, well that might be an apt description. Part of this concept was parody, part to emulate what Microsoft / Intel accomplished with the original IBM PC compatible platform back in the 80s/90s. Yes the Motherboard and array of add-on cards were clunky, but they allowed specialization in Hard Drive Controllers, Sound, 3D Graphics, whatever to have a go in the marketplace.

When an add-on technology became accepted, it would become a permanent part of the motherboard. Apple curated the hardware for best of breed, and added an incredible UI to create the iMac, which I believe would not have happened quite the same way without the years experimentation and discovery of the PC. The Phones & tablets we have today are the ultimate offspring of this kind of curation.

Google Glass, born from phone hardware essentially has begun life as a tightly integrated device to have any chance to create this new wearable computing space. But where is room for experimentation and discovery for hardware in this platform?
