I’m collaborating on a post processing script that works with Kiss and Cura to allow for better multi extruder support. Principly, it allows for granular control of the way the various extruders behave and what they are used for - it works best with Kiss as you can choose a specific extruder for Solid infill, sparse infill, perimeters, loops, support and support interface. It also has a configurable prime pillar capability and temp/flow tweeking for each extruder.

We mainly use Slic3r, but it would be nice to test the script you’re developing. Especially for Cura. It’s always good to try new stuff.
