This machine is beautiful. I hope those screws work well.
Thank you so much. I have been designing and iterating for over a year now. I call my machines UL-T-Slot this is mkIV mkIII used all ball screws. Mk II was before eustathios came into the picture an had a belt system with the motors outside the frame. MkI was spectra driven like the Ingentis. I never perfect one before building another iteration to simplify, cut unique part count, or improve something i don’t like ;).
What is the cost difference from belt to lead screw?
Dunno. These were given to me by @igus_Inc to review. You remove 4 rods and 2 belts a and 2 pulleys from the equation. I’ll say setup is much more streamlined. I hope to achieve very good quality with 1/16 micro stepping. I can pull the belt ¾ of the distance and the screw travels about half distance so resolution in x/y should be higher than belt drive.
You must have a big family, such a big dining room!
Cost just quadrupled! This is the kind of ingentus I’d like to build
@Mike_Thornbury big family business. I manage the family furniture store.
And… Now I get why you were after such fast screws. Neat!
@Mike_Thornbury thanks. These are just a little slower than the direct belt on my Mendel. I pull the belt the full distance from left to right and the carriages only travels ⅔ the distance. so resolution should be fine.
