Creativity Unleashed
G’day, thought I’d start a collection where I could share some of my CNC creativity. I bought my CNC 6040Z on eBay just over 1 year ago.
I re-purposed an old ThermalTake PC Cooling system to keep the 1.5Kw motor cool and added an digital thermometer to monitor temperature. I also set up a steady stream of air that blows the waste away and keeps the tool bit cool.
I’m using VCarve Pro to design and create my toolpaths, this then gets sent to the CNC PC running Mach3.
I took these photos yesterday while cutting a batch of 20 PCB’s for a local business. I’m using it more to create MultiRotor parts myself

Nice!!

Nice

Great!

I’d rather have a sensor do an E-Stop if the water line is dry then monitor temperature.
Do you use distilled water, car coolant or one of these colored liquid-cooling fluids?
I’ll test my improved end-stop holders this weekend and hopefully publish the final design.

@Marcus_Wolschon Hi Marcus, I’m using car coolant. I do like having the temp readout. We’ve had some 40C+ days here and I tend to stop cutting when motor temp reaches 45. (cool beer inside is usually calling me by then) I could increase the size of the reservoir but it’s working well with reasonable ambient temperatures.
