Playing with openscad and some inverse kinematics math… maybe one day I’ll make this SCARA laser cutter bot in the real world.
I have selected some thrust bearings, still have to settle on how to transfer movement from steppers to the arms and which screws/bolts/nuts use to hold it all together. The tip of the two arms is the most puzzling bit to sort out.
Anyway I have made a parametric design so I can fiddle with plastic thickness, bearing dimensions, element cuttings etc.
A DVD burner diode is somewhere in the 50mW range - just enough to engrave black surfaces. 500mW will eat through black paint and burn some materials, maybe even cut black sticker foil. To cut through real materials, you’d need at least 50W, preferrably more.
