Here’s what I did over the weekend
I finally gathered all the parts to replace my cracked J-head clone with a brand new E3D v5 hot-end - it’s a thing of beauty!
Very nice @denix ! What material will you be putting through it, and on what machine? (Looks like injection molded parts on that thing!)
@ThantiK it’s RoBo 3D and its default J-head clone developed a crack in its PTFE tube. I’m still learning the ropes, so the materials so far are PLA and ABS, with plans for more exotic ones later, like nylon, etc.
Is it standard to replace the included hotend on the Robo3d? I have seen this exact changeover in a couple places.
@Brian_Wilson the extruder/carriage sizing is a perfect match and relatively simple to upgrade, plus the standard hotend on RoBo 3D is rather cheap, so it tends to fail, hence people are replacing it with E3D. I’m not saying RoBo 3D is bad, but upgrading to E3D is one of the common upgrades people do…
I’m loving my e3d, it turned PLA from a headache into a joy to print with.
