Very good idea .

Well lets hope that this type of progressive thinking is not lost on the powers that be.

Isn’t this what tinyboy are trying to do? Isn’t it the age old issue of lack of new technology funding for schools and even if it were funded the lack of experience and knowledge would make it frustrating to teach so there is an immediate reason for negativity from the teachers, the person making the funding decisions up to the schools governors and finally the over arching department responsible for education funding decisions? Don’t get me wrong, I have a 6yo boy in his second year of school, I’ve just bought him a BBC micro:bit (back order), we regularly play with scratch and have a 3d printer so I would love him to do this stuff at school, but I know what the social and fiscal frustrations are for this.

@Mr_Bonce
we agree, it is not just about buying the hardware, there has to be some joined up thinking to drive technology through schools and finding appropriate teachers is a problem.

a teacher told us that his school tried to recruit a physics teacher, they had 1 applicant! Not that physics is technology but there is a shortage of teachers.

Unfortunately unless, as a country, we commit to forward thinking education, rather than getting mired in a antiquated notion of education, our children will fall well behind those of other nations that do make those technology commitments.
