How I stole the Clug and why I don’t feel bad about it
Okay, full disclosure, I do feel a little bad about it. But hopefully you’ll see why I’m not beating myself up about it. A friend pointed me to a kickstarter for a bike holder called the clug . It was a cool idea. But the reason it showed up on my radar is …

@Mark_Rehorst its been a week and they’ve survived some pretty good torque already. As I said, time will tell.

The

I would not feel bad at all. That is a really basic design that you improved upon. The fact that you looked for the pay model is more that I would have done. You are fully within your rights to use it on your own. In fact you could sell it as long as it isn’t patented. You could not use their art or their name, but you have not violated any laws here… Nice job, now I am going to print one

@Mark_Rehorst I printed one for someone who had the file from kickstarter but no printer. The layer orientation is not optimized for strength, and it lacked flat surfaces to allow it to print in the optimal orientation.

I was wondering about that. I backed the kickstarter for a file, haven’t printed, but kinda knew that I would likely be using their version more as a template than as the actual thing to print.
