Firmware: When I try to upload the altered firmware to my Sanguiololu 1.3A it gets compiled nicely. But then I get an error:
avrdude: stk500_getsync(): not in sync: resp=0x00
The connection between PC and printer is fine (at least I can controll the steppers and hotend by Pronterface. Asked Google but got only confusing advices…
Extruder: The E3D hotend seem to work fine. But the extruder gives some headache. As @Shane_Graber mentioned the direkt drive extruder won’t work with nema 17 stepper and 3mm filament. Which extruder would YOU prefere?
looks like we have approached the same problem from different ends - I began fiddling with my Sanguinololu right after attaching the Y motor while you have had the whole thing assembled first. In fact, the Sanguinololu http://reprap.org page lists this under bugs - 1) 5v line running from the LM7805 converter to USB port and 2) lack of self-reset, which makes it necessary to hold the Reset button on the board in the first seconds of uploading firmware, before the message about volume of data to upload appears.
This latter should have been fixed - at least my board carries an “autoreset” jumper - but just wanted to mention.
In my case the board accepted firmware upload without problems while powered solely by USB. But when I attached the ATX power supply the system sstarted throwing this error - even if that ATX PS was turned off! The problem went away only after I cut the 5V line going out of the USB socket on the board - there is a couple of centimeters of line before it reaches the first capacitor. @Miguel_Sanchez Today I assembled the compact extruder and the tests were good. Tomorrow I’m going to mount it onto the x-carriage. Unfortuneatly my stepper is to long so I will have to add extra spacers.
