Looks like what @Griffin_Paquette was working on. Cool.
Couldn’t get my hub to work with it unfortunately. Did yours end up working?
@Griffin_Paquette yes, it is working
I’ve tested before soldering and works great. After soldering one cable I solder one tiny wire of the green wire on pp23 to the shielding pad of the usb, so it didn’t work. Removed that tiny wire and everything is working now.
EDIT: after rebooting sometimes I need to plug and unplug the wifi dongle to make it work (I don’t know why this is happening yet)
I ended up just picking up a Pi 3 while they were on sale but really wanna see this work at such a low cost. Nice work keep us updated!
@Griffin_Paquette I’ll design a 3D case for all of this, but from now seem that it’s going to be ok.
Will keep updated if anything relevant happens
I used this
https://redbear.cc/product/iot-phat.html
IoT pHAT for Raspberry Pi - Product - RedBear
Works like a charm. No drivers or dongles required. The printer is connected to the USB on the zero.
@Dushyant_Ahuja I’ve been doing the same for a few weeks and can confirm its working fine, it seems to be a much nicer/more compact solution than having WiFi dongles and cables sticking out everywhere (Previously I tried a Zero4U USB Hub).
I even managed to find a micro USB to mini USB cable so I don’t need a shim adaptor for the cable.
@Leo_white I use this
Tiny OTG Adapter - USB Micro to USB ID: 2910 - $2.95 : Adafruit …
Tiny and works perfectly.
@Dushyant_Ahuja I do have a couple of those, which I use when plugging in USB hubs and flash drives to a PiZero. I just felt they added unnecessary bulk and the connection just doesn’t feel as secure (I’ve had cases where its looked like the USB cable has started to come loose, or when I’ve removed the cable the shim has been left behind in the PiZero, leaving contacts exposed)
