For those looking at quick disconnects for hot-ends, ATI Industrial Automation has quick-changers for industrial robots. The smallest ones have some good ideas.

We actually have a few of these in some of our plants at the company I work for. Just a heads up, they arent cheap. Ours are slightly bigger than these but they run about $500+ per quick connect.
Probably copy that or a similar idea. Pogo pins would allow for frictionless electrical connections, some might be large enough to handle hot end currents.
The pins in these are rated to 3A., One manufacturer of pogo pins,IDI, has much higher current products.
Apparently, they got absorbed by Smiths Connectors

The dovetail parts look very intersting, the Bias-ball version is supposed to be good to 15A continous.
I did something very similar a year ago: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:952572
