Does anyone know how to prevent these artefacts? I printed this guy on an ultimaker 2.0, sliced with Cura, set to shell thickness of 0,8mm and 0,4 nozzle size, hollow, using spiral “black magic” setting, to prevent the spiderwebbing effect that occurs if you don’t use this setting, but the turning point of the layer shows up as a little poop thingy on most layers, making an actual visible spiral.

I’ve been seeing this too on all my vases from Cura recently. Looks like a seam-hiding algorithm gone awry. @Daid_Braam , can you shed any light?

Seems like a slicing software thing then, as I gather from these comments. I guess I’ll try to use slic3r then, after all, although I’m reluctant, because at a first glance, the interface looks much more complicated.
Also, +Whosa whatsis - I think @Daid_Braam is already going to get this question in his mailbox, as I read on his profile that he receives the ultimate support questions

Seems like a change in the 14.09 release causes this, going back to 14.07 for spiral works better. http://software.ultimaker.com/?show=all
