Nonplanar Slicing!

My student @Joseph_Zhang has been working hard on a generalized nonplanar slicer. I hope everyone else is as impressed as I am. (Eventually this can be layered with an algorithm to pick the slicing layer intelligently to increase printability.)

Wow! This is great.

@Brigham_Valdez You will have to contact @Joseph_Zhang . My guess is that it isn’t near ready. There are all sorts of bugs that require active avoidance.

This is really cool. Is it changing layer height and moving up and down to compensate?

@Nazar_Cem Layer height isn’t a constant. To get the right amount of extrusion you have to calculate the local layer height.

@Nicholas_Seward That’s kinda what I mean, like for a local layer height, it must be moving the nozzle up or down to maintain extrusion width.

check out the Cura Wave plugin this guy created.

Wonderful!

wow cool. reminds me of wireprint. but variations cant be too big or you have to consider printerhead dimensions so you dont run into previously built parts.

hmm, will require aditional dof for hotend

@Zviad_Sulaberidze This is leading towards a working Sextupteron. (Look up a youtube video on it. You won’t be sorry.)
