When I stated my design was on Thingiverse for 28 days Before the 20th Sep, and before that I had various demonstrations and discussions about it and also how to implement it / software / gcode etc.

Previous Research at Bath University on mixing extruders was going on in Feb 2012, that was also openly documented on the RepRap Blog.
