Something is leaving a bad smell in the Open source community, could it be the recent Patents of big cheese Bre at Makerbot.

#takerbot #patents #makerbot

First! Absolutely despicable and shame on #TakerBot !!

I know it may not amount to anything, but instead of raging against Makerbot, how about every RepRapper who’s a US citizen apply pressure on his/her congressman/woman to change the broken US patent system. Wouldn’t that have more effect on the situation?

Since Richrap mentions the 2012 TOS controversy, it should be noted that all that upheaval had absolutely no effect. Thingiverse is still the major online sharing platform. I don’t think the current controversy will be different if it’s handled in the same exact way as it was in 2012.

Well, I think it would help a bit if we all asked folks like Make Magazine to stop taking their money for ads. If the likes of the maker community as a whole were to minimize the number of resources the Takerbot can advertise, there may be a sufficient impact.
