So, I’m happy again. I’ve started using Simplify3D instead of the MatterControl software. It took a bit to dial in the proper first layer and additional layers, but I think I’m now very close to perfect. I do believe there is still room for improvement, but I’m getting consistent prints with a halfway descent first layer.
The next thing I’ve been concentrating on now was getting my OctoPrint or OctoPi unit ready. I’ve printed out a RaspberryPi box (which I had to modify slightly due to the bad tolerances on 3D prints, I’ll go more into that on another post.) Mounted it with some velcro and also attached a WebCam to it for both viewing the prints as they happen and for creating a time-laps record of them. This has proven to be very handy, when combined with the OctoPrint standard web interface, it becomes a complete printing engine with no requirements from an external computer.
