There’s certainly a lot more welding on this project than I ever imagined! For the last year I’ve used a mig welder at work, so it took a while to get back into MMA (stick) welding, so far it’s not bad just don’t ask me to weld upside down!

Have a great weekend

Welding upside down always sucks.

Looking good so far.

Nice looking welds, especially for stick welds

I always found stick welding to be amongst the easiest to get to look good. That is so long as it’s not thin.

looks great I wish my welding looked that good

There is NEVER a good way to weld upside down, regardless of the process. However, if these pics are an example of your work? You lay down a nice weld. Good work!

Amazing and consistent look. I can sometimes get this … but only by chance  Is this a monstruous CNC that are you building?

Thank you, everyone for the great comments!!

@Bruce_Hoover anyone can do it, sometimes just takes a while to get there  its preferable not to learn off a picnic bench in a foot of snow in the middle of winter!! But let me tell you I learnt quick! Probably not a lot of choice before I froze to death!! Ahhh good times!

@jeremy_nothum certainly agree with you there! I still have the burns to prove it! Yep I can definitely hold my hand up and say that’s my work, thanks again!

@Jeremie_Francois funny you should ask that! It’s certainly far bigger than any machine I’ve ever owned! However the next one will even dwarf this, however that one is still in the “brains to paper stage”.
There’s a few posts I’ve done showing the 3D mock up and where I’ve got to so far if you’re interested

Had the same thing a little while back. Best thing about mig you can go over a weld again. No need to chip slack of. I forgot that when I went back to my inverter stick welder and I took a second to realize. Mig welding is always consistent and is especially nice for thin metal and filling gaps. Stick when it’s just right makes some of the nicest looking welds, like a stack of quarters just tipped over.

@Michael_Scholtz definitely agree on that!!
