I had managed to I forget how much I dislike removing a raft. But this time, I guess I have to. Printing small is SO much harder than printing big.

I have a pile of prints with unremovable rafts sitting on my desk. I’m waiting for my many scrapes and cuts to heal before I try again

I almost never need to use a raft anymore because of the ABS acetone solution I use on the bed itself.

If it gets too manky I take a clean cloth and straight acetone and wipe the bed clean then reapply a small coat of the ABS solution again.

I’m using a heated bed with kapton tape ontop

This time it’s only a little about adhesion. Mostly it’s because the model refuses to slice right without one. For some reason, the first layer is always a reverse of what it should be unless I use a raft… then it’s fine.

If there’s a problem with the base of the model, sometimes you can “push” the model down in the slicer settings a tiny bit to bypass the problematic area.

I don’t think ever used a raft.

The latest version of Repetier seems to have removed the option to manually adjust the z-height of objects, unless its buried in a new menu I haven’t found.

I’m not sure where the error is coming from, the stl checks out in everything I’ve analyzed it in, and even chopping a bit off the bottom in netfabb doesn’t change anything. I’ve resigned myself to it just being one of those things that has to be worked around.
