Time to start documenting my CNC router build! I was inspired by @Joshua_MalaMaker_Mal 's RCL Evolution and @Brandon_Satterfield 's SMW3D R7 to design and build my own router. 30" x 52" cut area, 3 axis rack and pinion, 20mm supported rail bolted to 30mm 6 series extrusion. More to come!
Rack and pinion, you say… And what about the backlash?! I don’t see any counter measures for that. Which is the positioning precision you aim?
Properly adjusted r&p has very minimal back lash. Things like spring adjusted tension and things like involute gears make back lash much less of a concern.
@Joe_Spanier I don’t argue that. This is why I asked for the aimed positioning precision.
