If you can, get the newest version. @Brook_Drumm changed the drive system to belt drive which is much more reliable

its fun no mater what you have. I learned on the 2013 printrbot simple. my machine looks nothing like it did when i started, i think i print more upgrades then actual stuff. if your mechanically inclined and like to play, go buy one and start learning
