I’m not expecting to have a working printer at the end of this but we’ll see.

I have a v6, is the one on the right a v5?

I have no idea

Had a lot of issues with extruding and heat creep so the manufacturer has provided a replacement head arrangement.

Your using a fan on them right? Those have to have a fan on the heat sink

Turned out the new cage requires a larger fan. Waiting for that to arrive before we’ll know.

What printer?

I played a lot with these metal hotends , finally went back to JHead peek .

It’s an Omni Architect. I’m not sure they make it anymore as they’ve decided to go down the Replicator big black box route.

OK. So 3 days in to trying to print anything with the new heads. Simultaneously they are both much better than what I had and about the same.

Better: the PLA extrudes nice and smoothly, puts down easier and everything seems to go great.

First calibration cube - very nice.

Bads: when not printing a cube I end up with the usual issues. As soon as the print demands retraction, it retracts, cools in the pipe and blocks. This recently has meant a series of 3mm high failures.

Retrying now with one of my few successful prints. Didn’t start off well (at 185 deg) but have upped the temp to 188 degrees - and it seems to be running more smoothly.

I run my e3ds at about 210-220 with most PLA. Also life goes much better if you season the heat break. Just dunk the tip of your filament in some vegetable oil and then press it into a full temp (220-230) hotend slowly. It will burn onto the heat break and make a nice non-stick coating. Do this a few times (press it in, pull it out, cut a new piece, dip it, press it in, repeat) then try running it again. Should fix the retract issues.
