Over the last couple days I’ve been working on building a dry box for my filaments (PVA and Nylon in particular). I went with an approach similar to @Thomas_Sanladerer with a few adjustments. Really happy with the results. It holds four standard 1kg Esun spools.
very nice! i keep meaning to make one for myself but never seem to find the time
Looks good. Mandatory for nylon, PVA, and PC in my opinion. I personally use calcium chloride (damp-rid tubs) instead of indicating silica because CaCl is more aggressive – nylon has similar moisture absorption as silica and dry nylon will actually pull water out of wet silica. The CaCl can’t be recharged but a good polypropylene gasketed box is so low-permeability that I’ve only replaced it once in a year or two.
Thanks guys! It was on the todo list for too long. Wasn’t super cheap to make as I went with an insane $18 box, but I really like the “Really Useful Box” brand stuff. It holds up.
@Ryan_Carlyle agreed. I want to test how this nylon holds up in there and if it isn’t working I will for sure switch to CaCl
