Perfection :D I love this print even though it's just a pool filter.

Perfection :smiley: I love this print even though it’s just a pool filter. Still though, ask me to print this exact thing with a reprap machine two year ago and I’d call you crazy!

I haven’t posted here in a while. My shop has been crazy busy lately, with an average of 200 hours of paid printing every week across two machines.

How’s everyone? Still making stuff or has the hobby (or job) slowed down for you lately?

Looks solid.

I’ve been spending a lot time designing control boards. So mostly it’s been running machines to test them than running for the sake of running them. But I did print a bunch of blue dogs this week. It was fun. :slight_smile:

Just yesterday my pool filter split with a vertical slit. Presumably the print layers in the print run in the horizontal plane. It should be strong with water pulling sideways. How strong will it be pulling down (attempting to separate the layers)?

looks great what did you print it with? a reprap and PLA?

@Ted_Huntington It’s PLA++ and made with an Raise3D N2

@Nelis_Willers this is a special PLA blend that is infused with nylon. It’s layer adhesion and impact resilience is spectacular.

Could also anneal it to improve strength?

@Greg_Nutt Someone watched Toms latest video.

Yeah, was really surprised about that. Annealing PLA.
And @Ben_Van_Den_Broeck pretty good print. Will need to get me some of that stuff. For the handles of the strainer, I keep losing them.

@Jon_Gordon sure did.

I sell it if you need some @Lykle_Schepers , match amazon prices and such too.

Hii

@Ben_Van_Den_Broeck where do you get most of your orders, if you don’t mind me asking?

@Jon_Gritton With a handshake and a friendly smile. Most client are walk-ins to my shop, which is inside a makerspace.

Hii

I gotta say, that is a fantastic looking print. How long did it take? I assume supports were used…

Hii

@Ben_Van_Den_Broeck interesting. I’ve been wondering how much custom there is to be had from a physical presence somewhere. I’ve got a feeling 3D printing possibilities are one of those things people need to see in order to know what they might do with it. No makerspace near me though :frowning:

Thats one of the best 3d printed things i ever seen so far, I cant see any layer at all, its like mold injection

@Greg_Nutt Yes it was printed in the orientation shown. The supports are just on the center flat bottom, the walls built up without supports.
