Picked up a sheet of Printbite for the latest FB2020 as a test for the AX-02, I have to say I’m impressed. I had a few teething problems with getting the correct feel for the levelling plus I was using Extrudr PETG which on Glass/Hairspray I print at 70c on the bed and the recommended bed temp is 110-115. Bumped it up to 115 and stuck like shit to a blanket. You should be able to just pop the print off when it’s cold, but I’m an impatient git so popped it off with a Stanley Scraper (Box Cutter Blade in a scraper handle), bottom of the print is almost as good as a glass/hairspray, shiny with a slight texture, which I can live with. This was probably one of the main reasons I’m testing it, I have a lot of parts I print that need a really good finish on the printed down side, it’s also the reason I go through about 2-3 cans of hairspray a month to keep that. This stuff beats Buildtak hands down (went through 2 sheets in about a week, due to damage and not being able to get a good feel for it). I need to retro-fit the other 2 FB2020s with Ally beds and silcone heaters, I’ll be using this on all my printers from now on as it’ll save me a lot of cash in the long run.
Have you ever tried PEI?
Agreed. good stuff.
@Griffin_Paquette - Getting PEI for 3D Printers over here in the UK is like trying to find Hen’s Teeth. I’ll buy from anywhere, but with the exchange rate of Pound Sterling at the moment, due to certain political issues which I won’t go into, it’s cheaper and easier to buy directly from a UK company, which Flex3Drive is.
Not discounting it, just not found a reliable source.
That being said, I just went hunting, Found it on Amazon without adhesive, but the same company sells the 3M adhesive sheets, works out the same cost as the same size of Printbite. For now, I’m going to stick with Printbite as it’s working perfectly for me.
What’s the shipping like Alex?
?
Cheers Alex, single one roughly works out at the same price of a printbite sheet, s’tempting, I’ll have to make a decision when I finally get the bed laser cut.
