Pico is finally coming, I’ve been waiting a while for this one.

Expensive.

@Wayne_Friedt Not really, compare it to other all metal ones, it’s in the same price range.

No active cooling likely also means PLA jams. There is a reason why both the prusa nozzle and E3D have active cooling. Unless these guys have found some voodoo method of preventing heat creep, I’d expect that thing to jam. I wonder hwo the Beta testers are? Apparently they are well known but they haven’t disclosed who they are - if I had well know beta testers that had good things to say about my product - I’d be hitting them up for testimonials to shut cynical wankers (like myself) up
Also, a 40mm fan weights next to nothing.
Also also, they totally ignore the existence of the E3D and Prusa Nozzle in their video, they make out like they are the first to do this.

Plus its about twice the money as the E3D.

@Wayne_Friedt So is the Prusa Nozzle.
@Tim_Rastall Yeah, heat creep is what I’m curious about. We’ll see if they give more information about that.

@Jeff_Karpinski The math is correct it is the location that is making the difference in this case. I ordered 2 E3d and had shipped to me here in The Philippines for 100 Euros.

@Jeff_Karpinski I was putting in my 2 cents from my experience If your website is different than mine how would i know. How could i. I like to have a conversation but when the name calling starts i want no part of it. Please do not msg me again. Thanks

@Jeff_Karpinski I see now, right at the bottom of the Page. So, now we can ask @Richard_Horne what his experience has been with the pico beta?

Oh, and @Jeff_Karpinski
That wasn’t trolling, @Wayne_Friedt merely expressed his experience and didn’t deserve such an accusation.

Hmm, that is confusing. Excluding shipping, the e3d is 50 pounds and the pico would be around 60 pounds. All the same, bad maths does not equal trolling, trolling is a deliberate attempt to evoke a response by making contentious statements.

I might be a bit late to the party, but their Kickstarter explicitly mentions the active cooling topic. They state active cooling is required for some materials and even include a 40mm fan. Without a fan duct and just a single piece of stainless steel, this sure isn’t as nice as, say, an E3D, but that doesn’t mean that it wouldn’t work.
I do need to question their simulation methodology and engineering capabilites, though, when they talk about how aluminum absorbs heat and use a super-simplified convection-only simulation approach and then take the results for granted. Non-forced airflow is notoriously hard to properly simulate and requires you to at least involve some fluid dynamics (or Solidworks Flow to take care of it for you, which they don’t seem to own).

E3D from US supplier. http://store.makerstoolworks.com/extruders-and-parts/e3d-all-metal-hot-end-direct-extruder/

@Tim_Rastall read the end of the kick starter page and you’ll see who tested the nozzle seems you forgot the thanks section.
Hope that answers your question.

@Sanjay_Mortimer is the hotend @Eclsnowman mentions a genuine/licensed product or are we looking at a counterfeit hotend?

I’ll post more on this topic soon - have only just woken up.

Just want to say that makers tool works are selling genuine product manufactured by us. There is also filastruder who is selling genuine stuff @Tim_Elmore1 is in charge of that. $69.99 http://www.filastruder.com/products/all-metal-e3d-hotend

I hope the Pico works as well as it’s pretty. Should be a space saver. Nice with some friendly competition. Will be interesteing to see how it compares to other current all metal hot ends.
