Plywood extruder. Not exactly extruding plywood but extruder made from it ;D
The big gear looks more like MDF to me
looks nice, only downside is the wood will end up with a groove and the filament will be slipping relatively quickly. Might want to make sure the part holding the filament is a bit more durable than the rest
Very nice! 4 key questions
- Does it work?
- What size filament does it use?
- What size end mill was used to cut the wood?
- Are the design files available somewhere to download?

Great work! you have managed to make a compete model of printer that one can make without need of any printed parts. If I knew it’s possible 6 months ago my ife would have possbily been completely different
Wil you be sharing this design? Woud love to make one.
@Igor_Larine pardon the pun, but I wood too!
Awesome! Now, quick! Print your replacement
@Thomas_T_Sorensen look to the inside of the big gear. There should clearly see the light and dark layer pattern distinct to laminated woods especially plywood
This is great!
Only plywood, it is great material. I will get to know if it works in few days. Currently I’m working at stiffness of X axis of BYQ.
In the end, plans are going to be released at my github. Stay tuned
Gears are drawn at draftsight, tooth is round and it works relatively without friction.
Have you thought of experimenting with a wood penetrating epoxy or superglue to enhance the strength of cut wooden parts?
I’m going to use very strong casting plywood which is used at construction site to pure concrete into foundation of house. It is much more stronger and stiff. Of course if there is such need.
Which extruder are you using, can you share if there is any source, I am also making cardboard 3dp.
I’m inspired by yegah/yruds. This extruder is developed by myself.
Hope you will share the drawing…
