Posted this on reprap but has anyone had issues running an lcd and only working on usb? Ramps 1.4 using marlin. Only thing I can think of is run a separate supply to the arduino. The psu I have has no 5v. So I’m thinking either is robbing off the 5a rail and use it to power arduino with lcd or just get a regulated supply? Screen flickers when powered from the ramps. New Ramps board and new arduino. Thoughts? Both d1 and d2 diodes installed.
The ploy fuses can do funny things like that, i usually remove them and soldier in jumpers.
their a frame around the LCD screen on some boards the tags that hold that in place make contact to the output pins on the board, come to think of it you dont mention which type of lcd it is
It’s s 12864. Ribbon cables connected to it and breakout board
just aint that much to go wrong get the MM out and confirm the theirs power on aux 1 on the ramps.
and you un-commented
#define REPRAP_DISCOUNT_FULL_GRAPHIC_SMART_CONTROLLER
that line
post a pic of the adapter somewhere pls seen those adapter ribbon headers mounted in reverse on adapter but i doubt thats the issue or you hear the buzzer going off
It works with usb. I measured the regulator on the arduino it had like 1.5 on v out which should have 5. But even yet I have used 2 boards. I have another that came in.
@Mark_Rehorst They can stick in a half tripped state causing all kinds of weird problems. They most definitely need jumpers or replace with automotive fuses.
@Zane_Mitchell you done a reprap forum post and have you got the link to it pls
Yes this is exactly what’s going on. I replaced the smt regulator. But I think my soldering iron is too hot. I’m wanting to get a hot air station for them smaller components. I’ve solder tiny LEDs just fine but are these regulators extremely temperature sensitive?
I did but once I did no v out. I checked the barrel connection. It has voltage coming out. Ohm the regulator without power and it checked fine. I checked the v in on the regulator which was same voltage coming in from the barrel. But v out was not even close to 5v. I checked both boards and same thing. These are ams1117 smt regulators I ordered. Unless I got a bad batch?
Yes I thought about that. The 7805 is easily available at RadioShack.
What do you think could have caused the regulator on the arduino to fail in the first place ?
Nothing I know of. It’s putting low output. But I did screw one up trying to hurry and solder the regulator lol
