Price optimisations on 3DHubs.com

“Hej, do we have a hook somewhere in the basement? I need it for hanging up a couple of bags.” I replied to my wife that I have no idea but I know there is a 3d printer.

The modeling took me a half an hour. If I charge CHF. 120.00 per hour it will cost CHF. 60.00

Then I checked the printing costs on my #3DHub[1]. Gee, it said CHF. 292.15. Ops, nobody will pay that much!

As a reference I uploaded the model also to Shapeways, where I got an offer for CHF. 95.00 (and add about CHF. 30.00 for customs).

So I ended up reducing my 3dhub qubic centimeter prices from CHF. 5.00 to 2.00 to get a resonable price.

I had a similar experience that caused me to lower my prices to $0.35USD per cm^3. Not sure how CHR converts.

@Joseph_Larson In this case I charge 6 times more than you do.

The 3d printer, support options, accuracy, and local economies all make a difference. In my case I’m on a relatively accurate makerbot replicator, but I can’t do any fancy sports.

Charging by model cc seems to be a pretty error prone way to go about bidding. Sometimes I have to tell people a different process is a better way to go.

@Jeff_DeMaagd I agree, but that’s the http://3dhubs.com way of calculating the price.
