Printing ABS on a craftbot with maxed settings and the “ppor mans enclosure”
The two empty spools looked like a waffle maker at first. Snacking while watching a print…
Had my snack already, but anyway, good idea!
Men, get glass and a sheet of buildtak, for abs its what i do, and it save me a lot of headaches, i even print at 95 on the bed sometimes
@lightshadown how’s buildtak compare to PEI for ABS? I’m using glossy PEI and find it hit and miss as far as adhesion results
@jerryflyguy , try sanding your PEI surface down a little with some 1200grit sandpaper; the small surface imperfections dramatically improve adhesion.
Upping heated bed temps might not be a bad way to go either (I’ve been running a PEI bed for 2000+ meters of filament and it’s absolutely fantastic)
@jerryflyguy dont know about PEI, but compared with kaptom and glue (aluminum bed and glass) ill allways preffer buildtak on glass, the adhesion skyrocket for me, now im printing with a pace of mind like never before (unless my extruder clogh), im using bart’s hotend by the way, and added a front door for a heated enclousure.
@Ishaan_Gov yeah that (sanding) was going to be my next thing to try when I had time. I’ve tried bed temps to 115C with somewhat mixed results. If that doesn’t solve it I may buy a second pc of glass and use buildtak on it, then I’ve got swappable print surfaces sitting on a heated alum bed.
On that bot you see above there is only a double layered aluminum plate (so you can take it off) ans a fat free sheet of thick captone. Works perfectly.
