Printing out some cool Halloween themed items. Credit to @Mark_Durbin for the files. I’ve got a spider invasion going on the printer right now with a bunch of spiders for the kids to hand out to their classmates.

Printrbot Simple’s doing a nice job with the newly received PLA from Filament Central. Printing slowly @ 200C.

They all look great, I particularly like the black web on yellow.

Thx Mark, color goes a long ways towards making these models pop. I’m starting to accumulate more colors as I was getting burnt out printing everything in neon colors.

If you were going to put a hot drink on it though, you would need to print the webs at least in ABS. It’s a very striking design.

Don’t worry, they’re fine in PLA with hot drinks

Really? I would have thought a steaming hot cup of tea would put a bit of a dent in them. I shall print one today and prove myself wrong.

Please do  If you think about it, the maximum temp of the tea is 100 degrees C and heat rises, so the likelihood of melting the mat is pretty remote. If you soak them in boiling water you’ll be able to bend them though  I sometimes do this with PLA parts to get them level or shaped around something.

No, not melting - more of a shape loss where the hot bits touch? The glass transition is higher than your average cup of tea so I’m probably wrong.

But I shall test anyway.

And it would help enormously if I didn’t get my Fahrenheit and Celsius mixed up. Oh, the shame:-D
