PrintrBot Mini

For awhile now I’ve overheard my 5 year old daughter mentioning an imaginary 3D printer while she played with her Barbie and Ken dolls, and thought I would surprise her with a scaled down version of my PrintrBot Simple Metal.

The PrintrBot Mini is a roughly 1/5th scale replica of the original, down to the hotend sock and autolevel probe. I didn’t bother to do details on the extruder or fan since I figured they would get lost at this scale, but I think overall the effect works. The arm even freely moves on the Z axis!

It was modeled (sloppily, and in a rush) in OpenSCAD, and the source and STLs are available under Creative Commons on Thingiverse:

That’s cute.

Awesome!

Okay, where do I cast my vote for Best Maker Dad of the Year?

Barbie and Ken got a 3D printer!
