@Printrbot shroud does not work on maker version. The fan will hit the Y limit switch and reduce printable area at least 10mm. @Michael_Spano_Jr_Ama don’t worry, it’s not a total loss. While trying to fit the shroud I found the extruder mech was loose! I think thermal cycling of the aluminum causes the bolts to work loose.
It’s supposed to clip on top. Not sure if that helps any.
And it may be your chance to learn the cad/cam side of things and make a shroud for this special case! #TheMcNeilShroud
@Michael_Spano_Jr_Ama is right, the shroud mounts on top. It works really well, I’ve been using it for months on my simple metal.
I have great foo in viaCAD. I was thinking of a top mount fan shroud that also hit the aluminum. The ideal would be to use the cooling fan for extruder to do all but I suspect that would be a gnarly object.
try this fan holder and light in one http://tinyurl.com/printrlight1405
@Michal_Canecky Thanks for the link. I’m waiting on the new extruder to see how it fits in the new scheme. Meanwhile I’m back to the old aluminum extruder. The E motor never gets hot using that extruder.
