Problem with circles printed erratic like stairs.

Problem with circles printed erratic like stairs.

I stumbled upon the above problem and checked for all possible causes. I never experienced this on RAMPS or Smoothie but I had performance problems in mind. Raspi load too many segements printing too fast or via USB, 8 bit limitations, known bugs in Marlin 1.1.4 none of that seemed to be the cause. I tried lowering the jerk settings and found a negative CRC when saving with M500.

So I resetted the EEPROM and changed home offset and Jerk again and it finally prints smooth circles again. Just as a log for anyone that might have a similar problem.

I don’t even know what most of this stuff is…

Sooner or later you will…

@Thomas_Herrmann I feel like a bit of that stuff is for higher end custom printers or something. I just have a cheap knock off one. I’ve never heard of RAMPS, I don’t know what smoothie or Raspi is. 8 bit limitations means nothing to me. I think Marlin is the software I’m running but I have no idea how to update it or if I even need to. I’ve seen the jerk settings but I have no idea what a good number is or if changing them would even help anything. CRC, M500 and EEPROM? No clue…

As it stands, my printer does a halfway decent job but one of my Z axis rods are bent and it makes my Y axis layers a little screwed up. I’m going to contact the seller and see if he’ll send me a new one.

@Kevin_Danger_Powers ramps is the crown of cheap knock off printers. And you need to visit the reprapwiki to get to know all this if you want your knock off to produce half decent prints

@Kevin_Danger_Powers What kind oft printer do you have? The cheaper the printer, the more you have to do to get decent prints but thats not necessary the case.

@Thomas_Herrmann I have a knock off Prusa i3. It’s cheap and required a lot of work to get where I’m at today. Once I can get that Z axis rod replaced with a straight one, I should be doing pretty good.

@Kevin_Danger_Powers Sorry some strange german autocorrection was going on

Sounds good.

@Thomas_Herrmann after that I need to learn what all those other settings are.
