Proof of concept for multiplexing complex APA102 blocks completed! I have made a few previous posts https://plus.google.com/102639486677013343669/posts/foH5nRD4sWB and https://plus.google.com/102639486677013343669/posts/LLndmT1ezj4 about the use of a HC4067 Multiplexer to drive large number of LEDs at high data rates. I completed the last hurdle of tests as can bee seen in this video https://www.instagram.com/p/BEvG7QXxDYn/ . Both panels were hand made using 144PM APA102 Strip. Each has 420 LEDs powered by 1 x 10,000mah 5v Power Bank. I’m driving the LEDs using a Raspberry Pi at 12Mhz which is twice the speed I was able to drive them without multiplexing! Not only that, this adds redundancy, if one pixel dies, only that panel will be faulty.
Sweet! Your coat is going to be awesome.
@marmil Thanks, yep The Wow Suit will be super awesome after these upgrades. I’m holding back on the upgrade however, to see if I get accepted into the GSPF - http://gspf.com.au/ this year.
Wow really smooth! Great job @Leon_Yuhanov
