Proto-pasta on my @Printrbot Metal plus prints like butta @190C!
Did you buy your metal plus prebuilt or in a kit. I ask because I have had very very low success with the metal plus. I have only got prints that are not high quality at all.
They are only sold assembled now so this particular one is an assembled unit. I do have a first off the line kit dual with heated bed that I built. Got it the day that the metal plus was originally released. I get the same results with that printer as well.
What is uses are you having?
I have many other printers that are cheaper with better build quality. I have also been unable to print something over 6 inches high without having a problem. Another thing is that it skips on both the x and y axis all the time. I just want to have a printer that just works
Have you put a ticket in with support?
The time it took me from box to table to print was about 10 minutes. Just had to do a minor tweak to the Z offset and I was good to go.
Yes but they were not helpful. I had my machine for about a month before I finally got around to building it. Then it took me another month to do a few prints. I have like 8 printers, so it was not my first priority.
Yeah there is a 30 day on kits for replacement parts. Have you tried adjusting the digital POTS? I also found that greasing the rails with lithium grease doing some simple adjustments to the bed while heated and changing the print setting made my experience much more consistant. I also found that lowering travel movement to around 50mm/s instead of 80mm/s stopped any stutter on the x/y axis.
I found that my problem was the heated bed. Once I turned off the heated bed, I was all good
i managed to destroy a nozzle in 1 day with this. very abrasive!
Yes it is. I destroyed an e3d v6 nozzle with that filament.
Yeah if you want to try and fix that you can try loosening the screws under the bed holding it to the rails (to be honest I only us three I n each rail, one on each end and one in the middle) heat the bed. Slide over the rails a couple times and then tighten. The expansion on the rails from the heat makes it bind sometimes. This should get them straightened out.
Wow @marc_kerger I have had to replace a nozzle yet.
So… comments on the filament? Mabe a pic or two of the prints? Please?
Not home. I’ll post a link to photos. Prints so smooth and it’s extra strong. If it wasn’t so expensive it would be my go to filament for everything.
awesome! Thanks…Ill be watching!
So one thing I don’t like about Google plus is that you can comment with a photo. Here is a link to some things I’ve printed with Proto-Pasta. There is the in progress of the lcd controller v2 case, the completed case installed and a fun print of the GE Jet Engine. Anything black in the photos is Proto-Pasta.
Added some prints I just did. Got the makers to play upgrade kit for classroom but it needs printed parts to complete. It’s odd, when printed at 100% infill as suggested it has a similar weight and consistency of delrin
