Question: is there anything wrong with using a pulley like this? It’s the only way I can keep my frame design without stretching it. Both eye screws are on the shaft fine.

You mean pulley? Upside down?
I use mine like that all the time.

@Stephanie_A yup sorry. Used the wrong word haha. But ok good I just wanted to check that everything would be fine that way!

In this configuration it’s actually better that way, the forces of the belt and tension will pull on the motor and mount. The further the pulley is from the body, the more torsion will apply to it. Over time the mount will twist and lower the belt tension. The heat from the motor will soften the plastic and the leveragrd force will bend it. I typically design my motor mounts with this in mind.

Perfect.

Technically, you will get about twice as much torsional flex in the pulley/shaft this way, but that’s essentially zero, and 0 * 2 = 0. The difference in mounting flex, OTOH, is actually measurable.

As long as you have a “D” shaft, you are fine. The closer to the bottom of the shaft the better.
