Question: RAMPS 1.4. Has 2 12v Lines one 11A, one 5A. My spare RAMPS power connector burnt out, so I’m hard wiring it. Would there be any detrimental effects to put a 14AWG bridge wire between the 2 feeds? IE Positive line in to the 11A feed, then putting a short bridge wire from the 11A wire to the 5A feed and the same for the negative. Allowing the use of 1 rail on the PSU over 2. Would there be any detrimental issues with this?
There are no issues. And yes you should connect 11A and then bridge it. The 11A is only used when a heated bed is connected. On that part nothing else is there.
@Hakan_Evirgen - thanks, that’s what I thought.
The only issue is if your PSU isn’t capable of providing the combined current.
@Stuart_Young 20A 12V PSU, so it’s fine. If it can’t hold it I have a 38A here too.
Which PSU do you have exactly? For me it is hard to find PSU for a decent price, which have more than 12V 10A.
@Hakan_Evirgen -it’s a generic S-250-12, meanwell clone. It’s off the Migbot Prusa i3, however, I’ve just put together a kit for someone and I think it was £16.29 for it off of Makers Hut on http://www.makershut.com/product/dc-5v-12v-24v-universal-regulated-switching-power-supply-led-3d-printer-cctv-2/
