Quick question. I have a Bukobot Duo with Marlin firmware & I'm trying to

Quick question. I have a Bukobot Duo with Marlin firmware & I’m trying to use the second extruder only without changing my wiring. My thermister has gone out on the extruder 1 but need to keep printing. Suggestions?

So, you want a single-extruder print, but on #2 only? I have zero experience with dual extruders, but, just going from my available slicer settings, couldn’t you tell the slicer that #2 has the desired filament and #1 has some other that’s not used in the print?

Thats basically what Im trying to figure out. I also dont have a lot of duel experience. I’m basically just looking to load my second extruder only yes.

No dual extrusion experience either but I swear I saw a way to specify which extruder is primary in Slic3r. You could also swap over the electrical plugs too…

@Ben_Malcheski He said in post he doesn’t want to change wiring for some reason. Also, wouldn’t swapping wiring also require other changes due to physical offset of extruder #2?

Good point, I didn’t think of that.

You just have to change your bedleft to not compensate for the first extruder (atleast on a Buko.) I’ve decided to just switch boards for now, as I think it has to do with my amateur soldering job.

@Whosa_whatsis will help

He has already, thanks though. No need to tag/bother him :slight_smile:

You can switch to extruder 2 in repetier host before starting a print and it will use it instead of extruder 1 (just be aware of the offset). The problem is that if extruder 1 is giving you mintemp errors, that will still shut the machine down. This is a safety feature, and can’t by bypassed without modifying either the firmware or the wiring.
