Quick question, relative per layer or absolute for entire print extrusion values in S3D?

Quick question, relative per layer or absolute for entire print extrusion values in S3D? Which do you prefer and why?

Slic3r does relative per layer. It helps against rounding errors, and allows for easy scripting on layer changes.

Most people will never see any difference whatsoever. Shouldn’t matter unless you’re doing something weird, like resuming a print after a power outage by replaying the gcode file from the point of failure, and the extruder is in absolute coordinates.

For pausing a print, and unloading\reloading filament, relative has always been a must for me. If absolute, if you retract 10mm, you must then extrude 10mm to get it back to zero again before the print starts. Not so good for filament reloading
