I like your printer design. Unfortunately i can’t watch the video due to muci rights violence here in germany (it’s always better to post videos without music for global availability).

One question came to my mind: Why did you go for a geared extruder? Direct drives are widely used today with 1,75mm filaments. Nonetheless i love your extruder design. Well done.

@Helmi thanks for the comments, never even considered the whole music rights side of things! The geared extruder is needed due to the use of Nema 14 Stepper Motors which don’t have enough torque for a direct extruder system. Also why make a motor work harder when it doesn’t need to!

oh, totally missed the fact that you used Nema14 - silly me. Though @Bjorn_Marl just successfully used a stronger Nema14 with a direct drive extruder. Of course going with geared is always an option but less parts isn’t too bad either :slight_smile:

@Helmi I totally agree, though my experience of using direct drive bowden extruder has always swayed me back to gears! Nema 14’s are so much nicer size and weight wise for this type of build.
